Have you come across these new and modern-looking parking meters?

They are a part of the second phase of the ‘Parking Meters Project’ by the RTA and Brand Dubai, which aims to help showcase Emirati traditions and culture in an urban way. Located currently in residential and tourist hotspots such as the Burj Khalifa, Al Wasl, Business Bay, 2nd December Street, Marsa Dubai, Al Ras, Gold Souq, Al Shandaghah, Al Buteen, Al Rigga and Rega Al Buteen, the parking meters ensure that people from all walks of life can see and admire Emirati culture in a different way.

Five Emirati digital artists – Mohamed Aljneibi, Saeed Alemadi, Maryam Alobeidli, Alia Alhammadi, and Alya Fowzan – were commissioned to take part and deliver these unique pieces that were created under the theme of ‘Tradition Meets Modernity’.

With the project being green lit to expand further, this could serve as an opportunity to other Emirati artists to get on board and help enhance the purpose and art of the initiative.
