Music streaming service Anghami to launch Anghami Lab in 2022 to amplify local voices

Popular music streaming service Anghami has announced plans to launch Anghami Lab in Dubai. It aims to be an entertainment centre featuring a lounge, stage, and stage that will be accessible to producers and artists who pitch their work.

In-house producers will then release a selection of recordings that will be available exclusively through the Anghami app. The stage will also allow for songs to be performed live at the venue.

The company, which is headquartered in Abu Dhabi, has partnered with hospitality group Addmind to develop the venue, which will be the first of several the music company is establishing across the world. Anghami is also planning to launch the concept in Riyadh, Jeddah, Cairo and Beirut, as well as London, New York and Los Angeles.

Warehouse421 and Cinema Akil launch SUMMER FILM PROGRAM: MAKERS IN THE SUN with Film My Design

Cinema Akil, in celebration of its 10th season of film, has partnered with Warehouse421 to present “Makers in the Sun”, an online series of Egyptian design-centric film screenings, essays, talks, and Q&As organised in collaboration with Film My Design, a Cairo-based design-film festival. FMD was first launched at the Zawya arthouse cinema in downtown Cairo in partnership with the Milano Design Film Festival bridging the worlds of design and film through commissioned locally produced documentaries that spotlight local design studios, artisans and craftspeople.

The six-week summer screening series will present the online film series in conjunction with a series of pre-recorded conversations with filmmakers, editors, designers, and programmers that are centered around the relationship between film and design.

Reflecting on the intimate role architecture plays in our lives, Remain Calm explores the work of notable Japanese architects and an artist who use traditional concepts to create physical spaces with both modern and contemporary resonance. The exhibiton will include sculptural models, multimedia installations, drawings and photographs of various architectural projects in Japan.
